Chuseok (2022 September 10) : Chuseok or the Harvest Moon Festival is one of the greatest traditional holidays in Korea.

On this day, Koreans offer freshly harvested crops and fruits to ancestors in a traditional ritual; they also share them with neighbors. Even the poorest make rice cakes and share them with others, leading to the proverb: "If only the 365 days of the year were like Hankawi!"

Chusok, which falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month was also called 'hankawi', with 'han' meaning 'great' and 'kawi' 'middle' - a great day in the middle of August.

'Kawi' is derived from 'kabae', a sort of weaving game played in Shilla (57 B.C.-A.D. 935). In the reign of King Yuri (24 B.C.-57 B.C.) of Shilla, women weavers gathered in the royal palace one month before Hankawi, split into two teams, and spent the entire month weaving.

After comparing the quantity of cloth woven by each team a month later on the day of Hankawi, the losing side treated the winning side to a feast, an act described by kabae, or paying back one's dues. This later changed to 'kawi'. On Chuseok, people engage in a variety of traditional games such as 'kanggangsuwollae' (women's circle dance), matches, archery contests.

They also perform farmers' band music. On the morning of Chuseok, people perform memorial rites, offering fresh fruit and grains to their ancestors. They eat breakfast and then visit the graves of ancestors to pay their respects. Chuseok is a day of excitement, and at the same time, a day of thanksgiving.

추석 (2022년 9월 10일) : 추석 또는 추수절 축제는 한국의 가장 큰 전통 명절 중 하나이다.

이 날에 한국인들은 전통 의식에서 갓 수확한 곡식과 과일을 조상에게 바친다. 그들은 또한 그것을 이웃과 나눈다. 가장 가난한 사람들도 떡을 만들어 다른 사람들과 나누며 "1년 365일 한가위 같았으면!"이라는 속담이 있다.

음력 8월 15일인 추석을 한가위라고도 하며 '한'은 '큰', '가위'는 '가운데'로 8월 중순의 좋은 날이다. '가위'는 신라(57 B.C.-A.D. 935)에서 행했던 일종의 직조 게임인 '가배'에서 파생되었다.

신라 유리왕(기원전 24년~기원전 57년) 때는 한가위가 있기 한 달 전에 궁궐에 모인 여자 직조공들이 두 팀으로 나뉘어 한 달을 꼬박 짜면서 보냈다. 한달 뒤 한카위 날에 각 팀이 짜는 천의 양을 비교한 후 지는 쪽은 이긴 쪽을 잔치, 즉 회비를 갚는 잔치로 취급했다. 이것은 나중에 '가위'로 변경되었다.

추석이 되면 '강강수월래', 씨름, 양궁 등 다양한 전통놀이를 즐긴다. 그들은 또한 농부들의 밴드 음악을 연주한다. 추석 아침에 사람들은 조상들에게 신선한 과일과 곡식을 바치는 제사를 지낸다. 그들은 아침을 먹고 조상의 묘를 찾아가 경의를 표한다. 추석은 설렘과 동시에 감사의 날이다.
